Urban Dictionary Guidelines...Can we Edit These?!

1. Publish celebrity names but reject friends' names.
Publish definitions of Jennifer Lopez because she's famous, but reject my girlfriend Sally. (First names within the entry are okay, because they don't identify an individual.) Same for bands and schools: publish if popular and reject if unknown.
2. Publish racial and sexual slurs but reject racist and sexist entries.
Entries can document discrimination but not endorse it. People use slurs in everyday speech, so they should be published.
3. Publish opinions.
Don't reject an entry because it's opinionated. Opinions can be useful to readers who are unfamiliar with a topic. Don't reject an entry because you disagree or are offended. Don't reject an entry because you think it's inaccurate.
4. Publish place names.
Publish names, nicknames and area codes of neighborhoods and cities.
5. Publish non-slang words. Ignore misspellings and swearing.
Any word from your life belongs here, so don't reject an entry because it's in a real dictionary. Don't reject an entry because it's misspelled or includes swearing.
6. Publish jokes.
Publish sarcastic entries. Reject inside jokes only your friends understand.
7. Reject sexual violence.
Reject made-up violent sexual acts.
8. Reject nonsense. Be consistent on duplicates.
Reject nonsensical, circular, unspecific or all-caps entries. Reject entries with non-English definitions (non-English words and examples are okay). Be consistent if you see two similar definitions.
9. Reject ads for web sites.
Reject an entry whose only purpose is to advertise a web site. Advertising will hook them up.
10. Finally, publish if it looks plausible.
It's better to publish a plausible entry than to reject it. You might not have heard the word, but it could be the next hyphy.

Philosophy no. 1

What is it that makes people do the things they do? Are we all searching for happiness, but come across reality in a society driven by distractions of pseudo-happiness? It has come time for people to really begin to understand where we are as humans on this planet, in this solar system and an intricately miniscule part of this universe. But we all are parts, from within and beyond. There exist energies much larger than that of the human mind, at least until this point, we all must begin to understand on a higher level. Abstract realities become reality, extraordinary becomes ordinary, things manifest themselves from deities to Gods, ancient souls to budding fresh love--it is an intricate make up that us as humanity have contemplated and struggled to understand. It is difficult and scary, beyond any level of comprehension, thus we put the blinders on and develop distractions. I know myself because I am easily succumb by these distractions. And for some lets call it, ethics, morality or even religion has attempted to define these principles. The common struggle between good versus evil, or how I see it in our society today, true happiness versus a distracted reality of unhappiness and misery. There are so many distractions, that for some it arrives at the level of sheer and utter abomination and neglect for the good things that will allow us to see beyond what society has constructed. So thus why has society constructed itself in such a manner? If everything is such a master plan, then why is there suffering, hatred, violence, greed, money and material objects that fit into a very intricately woven society of our global world constructed to oppress many, distinguish some, hinder other, repress the masses and seduce the majority to confirm seamlessly into the master plan. But this constructed almost perfect master plan has taken its toll too far and the strong people are starting to understand, confide in each other, and use their ancient knowledge to rebuild faith in the human spirit. Its not a coincidence that certain grandiose events occur that spark like a scatter bomb into pockets of flourishing and wise people around the world. It doesn't matter who they are or what they do, we all see a common overarching theme and it is time now to realize that this is not simply a manifestation of our minds hoping that something else truly exists, but a time to actually believe that this is true, unite people of faith, people of no faith, different religions, cultures, history, past, present and future...the time is now! If the time is not now, there will be no time. We all have waited, and it must lead to something...be strong, be proud, protect yourself and then one can alleviate their fright. There is no need to be scared, but one must be strong within themselves first. Protect yourself and elevate yourself to see the truth, because from what I can see, the truth is infinite, just like the universe. The intrinsic truth lies within its creator, a creator if infinity, always growing and always expanding. As one loves, the universe expands, happiness and positivity are the pure untouched forces that reign supreme. It is not a coincidence that good always prevails over evil. Fill yourself with good, fill the world with good, open your gates to feel the purest form of all things divine, and everything will be fine.

Fidget House

A new genre of music created by DJs Switch and Jesse Rose out of the UK...Our new obsession, watch out World Town constituents...!

Interview with Jesse Rose

Jesse Rose Interview
His groovy ‘Body Language Vol. 3’ mix for Get Physical is out on 5th February. Our cue to launch a few questions at DJ and producer Jesse Rose.
You moved from London to Berlin last year. What’s it like living there?

“It’s great, a complete contrast to living in London.

“It’s very relaxed, very safe and you can live like a king on not very much.”

How did you approach your mix for Get Physical?

“I condensed what I would normally play in a three-hour set and tried to pick up the freshest tracks that were around, as well as a couple of classics such as Ariel Brikha’s ‘Groove La Chord’.

“After that I spent about three weeks locked in a room mixing it and re-mixing it.

“I wanted to do it in one take, which unfortunately for me meant doing it about twenty times!”

What do you think of minimal?

“I think there is some great stuff out there like the tunes on Moon Harbour, but there is also a mass of really boring music.

“I think a lot of prog and trance DJs have started playing minimal and have added a dark and straighter edge to it that feels really soulless.

“But it was good to have a change and it has had a massive impact on clubland.”

What is ‘fidget house’?

“We came up with ‘fidget house’ as a joke, which has now gone a little too far. Switch, Trevor Loveys, Herve and myself all make and play ‘fidget house’, and although we all have different influences we are influenced by music that isn’t straight-up house, like hyphy and bali funk.”

What’s your residency at Panorama Bar like?

“It’s like going back in a time machine to 1989 or something.

“The crowd are amazing, really up for having a party and the club itself is very unique.

“It was a real compliment to be asked to do my own monthly label night there.

“It’s also great to be able to invite a lot of DJs that don’t normally play in Berlin, like Claude Von Stroke, Chris Duckenfield and Rob Mello.”

Which producers/DJs do you tip for 2007?

“I’ve just signed up a new artist, Deadset, which is a new project fronted by Cass & Mangan.

“They are taking the best of what’s going on and twisting out some big dancefloor bangers.

“Their album will be released next spring.

“Apart from them I would say the very talented DJ Tristan da Cunha from Basics will be big this year.”

...Can You Say that we 'Called it...' (maybe) Much Respect to M.I.A.

M.I.A. Cancels European Tour
Bonnaroo set in doubt

Hearkening back to this time last year, M.I.A. has canceled her upcoming summer festival dates, according to NYMag.com (via Idolator). This time, the reason behind the cancellation isn't visa issues, it's plain old exhaustion.

"I'm canceling because I feel like physically I just have to stop for a second. It's too insane," M.I.A. told NYMag.com. "I was losing a sense of just, like, reality, you know what I mean? I think for an artist like me, it's so important for me to be in the streets and go to the same shop every day and see the same people and, like, communicate. And it's really difficult to do that when you're in the city every day for 24 hours. Like, I love connecting with my band, but I want to actually help them and be a part of peoples' lives. Which is really hard when you're on tour...It takes a lot out of you, physically. I make club music, which means I'm clubbing every night for, like, six months. Know what I mean? So now and again you finally just want to be gardening and get your nails done or something like that."

Although M.I.A.'s label can't confirm anything at the moment, it seems that all of her European festival dates in June and July, as well as her set at Bonnaroo on Friday, have been called off. (An email to Bonnaroo's publicist has not yet been answered.) According to NYMag.com, she called her June 6 show at Brooklyn's McCarren Park Pool her "last show."

UPDATE: Interscope has confirmed that the European shows have been canceled.

In more hopeful news, the singer hinted at a forthcoming record to NYMag.com: "I've been writing on tour. I'm really into writing new songs. I'm going to put out a new record instead [of touring]. At the end of the day, I'm here, you know."
